Hamas has commented on media reports that the movement is ready to lay down its arms.

Hamas Politburo member Mahmoud Mardavi denied media reports that the movement had allegedly agreed to lay down its arms as part of US President Donald Trump’s plan to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip, TASS reported .

The movement’s publication notes that these media statements have no basis and are aimed at discrediting the position of Hamas, as well as misleading the public.

On October 5, Al Hadath TV channel, citing a source within the movement , reported that Hamas was ready to release Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip and surrender their weapons.

On October 3, Hamas expressed its willingness to release all hostages in accordance with Trump’s plan. The movement also agreed to transfer governance of the Gaza Strip to an independent authority composed of Palestinian technocrats. Other issues mentioned in the US president’s proposal regarding the future of the Gaza Strip and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people “will be resolved within the framework of a comprehensive Palestinian national structure.”
