Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov announced at the opening of a government complex in Grozny that Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated him on his 49th birthday, TASS reported .
“The president congratulated me first. He told everyone to send his greetings and congratulated them on Youth Day, Teacher’s Day, and Grozny City Day (all of these holidays are celebrated on October 5th – Gazeta.Ru),” the head of the republic said.
He added that the head of state also congratulated him.
Earlier, during the opening ceremony of the government complex, Chechen Prime Minister Magomed Daudov presented Kadyrov with a sword that belonged to the first imam of the North Caucasus, Sheikh Mansur. The head of the republic noted that this gift is a national treasure for all the people of Chechnya and thanked him for his consideration and trust.
Sheikh Mansour— a significant figure in the history of the North Caucasus. He was a political leader, religious mentor, military commander, the region’s first imam, and led the highlanders’ national liberation movement from 1785 to 1791.
